Welcome to Wintergreen. The infamous Virginia Spartan Race is one of legend, taking place at the twice named “Best Ski Resort” by the readers of Washington Post.com, offers one of the most challenging mountain courses in the Spartan Race series. Whether you’re driving or flying into Charlottesville, this Mid-Atlantic race is one you won’t want to miss! Using the ancient Blue Ridge Mountains as our turf, you’ll be in for a test of grit, mental focus, and some aching quads. Come out and test your mettle against 8+ miles on Saturday and 3+ miles on Sunday of obstacles, ski slopes, hills and barbed wire.
As is the case with most mountains, the weather can throw you for a loop. Most years have been exceptionally warm. And then there was 2014: “The Year of The Fog.” NBC Sports Network covered that race and the images resembled something reminiscent of a war scene -- perhaps you recall the dramatic scenes that made the rounds on social media.
Whether you’re a newcomer, a weekend warrior, or a Spartan aficionado, the Virginia Spartan Race delivers. So make a goal, train for it, and we’ll see you on the course and at the finish.
